Good things come to those that wait

So for those of you who don't know......Clint and I are buying a house and we're pretty stoked about it. Really, that's all we can think and talk about. When we lie down at night, we talk about how cool it would be to sleep in our house. Not that it would be that much different, but it would be ours.

So this is how the whole thing started. Around October last year, my mother-in-law showed us this house in Magna that had been sitting there for 2 years. We looked at it and thought "we might be able to afford this if we can get the price down a bit." We called it the Bosnall Bay house, since that was the name of the street it was located on. So we looked into it, talked to a finance person and it just wasn't working out. We couldn't afford $188,000 house. So we stopped and just got rid of it all.

However, in the mean time, we've been thinking about houses ever since. This got us motivated to pay off debt really quick, so we could start saving for a house. Also since then, we've been looking at model homes on Saturdays when we were bored. We figured we could probably afford a townhouse over an actual house, thinking that they were cheaper. WRONG! The townhouses in our area are way more expensive. Some are 260,000 or more! I think its because there are more new townhouses as opposed to old townhouses. However, we didn't completely realized this till the day it happened.

We were attending a wedding luncheon for one of Clint's good friends from High School. We saw one of his old acquaintances from high school and they live in a town house in Magna. We were curious about it, because they said the townhouse across the street from them was for sell for 110,000. We were thinking "what a great deal!" So we went to their townhouse to look at it. It was cute, about the same size of our basement apartment now, except it was on two levels. I liked it, but if I buy a house, I want to be able to resell it and I just don't think that particular townhouse would sell quickly. So we said goodbye.

Becuase we were in Magna, I had the thought of looking at the Bosnall Bay house, just to see if it was still in the market...maybe they had reduced the price! But as we saw it, it was sold. I was kindof dissapointed, although deep down I knew I could never own that house. So we drove off. Now that particular day I had to go to my brother's place to get his clarinet. So we were driving on Bachus Highway, when out of the blue my husband noticed this new subdivision in Magna. There was a model home. So we checked it out.

A brand new house, ready to be built for you, decently priced, AND no closing costs (they pay) AND the 8000 credit! We were on our way! This was so awesome! So we prayed about it, still feel good about it and that's what we're doing now. After getting approved and signing your life away, and getting a building permit from the city, they are currently building our house. So I'll be taking pictures of the progess, and hopefully you'll enjoy looking at our house be built. It sure is exciting for us. They have the foundation poured already and sprayed so I'll take a picture of it this Saturday and post it soon.

A new house, all because of....well....my mother-in-law showing us the bosnall bay house. And a wedding luncheon, and seeing old acquaintances....and, I guess, waiting.
