Anybody who knows me, knows that I'm not a crafty person. The most crafty I get is when I digital scrapbook, but even then, I don't go above and beyond and do all those crazy things that digital scrapbookers do. I'm a very practical person, and I like things that I can do quick. That's why I like digital scrapbooking, because I can do a page in 15-20 minutes. It's awesome!
Well, lately I've been developing a new hobby......a crafty hobby.......a hobby that I was never really into, until now.....maybe it's because I'm working on something fun and exciting, but either way, I'm really enjoying myself.
It all started a few weeks ago when my mom, sister and I went to Gardener's Village. Ok, I don't care who you are, but just going to Gardener's Village and walking through their cute little crafty shops makes me want to be crafty, even though I hate being crafy. Well, my mom and I found a Children's Activity Book Pattern on how to make a quiet book, and ever since then I've been working like mad on it!
Sewing.....who would have thought me a sewer! But it's so fun - As long as I'm sewing something fun, and I have cute fabric. So my mother-in-law and my mom let me ravage their fabrics and I've been cutting and fusing and sewing ever since. Thanks to them for letting me use their stuff, since I don't have anything sewing related.
I hope to get this quiet book done in time for Christmas, which I might finish by October since I'm working on it everyday, so I can give it to Jonas as one of his gifts. I'm super excited about it. Lately Jonas has been a PILL during sacrament. I mean he will throw anything and everything over the bench, and crawl under the bench to go get what he's thrown, and then throw it back. He throws everything! And trust me, he's got a good arm. He can chuck things far and he's very consistent with his aim. But during church, that is not acceptable! So I'm hoping that this book will allow him to do things that are mostly attached to a book, and not throwable, and keep him happy and content.
This is my first page that I have finished so far. Cute, huh? So you put money (just the plastic coins you can get from the dollar store) into the button hole at the top, and then the money comes out the pigs belly below. Then there is a wallet to store the coins. Ya, he might throw the coins, but I'm hoping that his interest of putting things into other things will distract him from the throwing.
I look forward to his naps everyday because I have something fun to work on. Before, I would just watch TV during his naps, but this is way better! Plus, I don't snack anymore. When he slept, I would get bored, so I would snack and eat things. I don't eat anymore during his naps because I'm busy working on my sewing project. Who knows, maybe sewing will be my next "digital Scrapbooking". I'll keep you updated on each page I finish. So excited!
Awesome! Looks so cute and fun =)
