Day 25 - What I learned today

I learned something way cool today! There is this thing called "metering". Basically every camera has it. It's something inside the camera that determines what will make your picture properly exposed. If you didn't have "metering" then your pictures would come out dark, or extremely bright white. So that's the basic. Well, on a DSLR there are 3 types of metering, and today I finally understood how to do one of them. I knew where to set it up in my camera, but I didn't completely understand how it all worked. Anyway, I have to know how to do this type of metering to create this effect that I love.

This effect is called a "summer Haze" effect, and it all has to do with the sun at the right time, and metering correctly. I really wanted to try it. There are instructions here that I followed. (this pic is from clickitupanotch.com by Courney. I love her)

So I tried it when Clint and I went over to his parents tonight to visit with his brother and their family. And this is what I got. I think it turned out pretty good considering it was my first time trying.  Don't mind Jonas's head. He decided to photobomb just as I was taking the picture. But I tried again about 1 minute after (after I moved Jonas) but when I did it again, the sun had gone behind the mountain enough, so this is the only photo with me trying this effect. I guess I should have started a little bit before 7:30.

But I really like that look. I want to get good at it, because there's actually a lot that you have to remember. I think it would be cool to get a picture of Jonas with this type of look. But I'm too slow to remember all the steps and having to think about what I'm doing. So I needed someone who could hold still and pose for me. Thanks sweetheart!
