Prayer Rock
I am a special PRAYER ROCK
This is what I do.
You put my on your pillow,
Until the day is through.
Turn back the cover.
Climb into the bed. WHOMP!
Your special prayer rock
Will hit you in the head.
Then you will remember,
Get up and say your prayers.
Just dump me on the floor,
Till morning I'll be there.
You'll get up the next morning.
CLUNK! I'll stub your toe.
So you will recall, my friend,
Your morning prayers, you know.
Back up on your pillow,
When your bed is made,
Your clever little Prayer Rock
Will continue as your aid.
If we forget our prayers,
Our days are not the same.
We need our Heavenly Father's help
To reach our highest aim.
So I took the poem and made a prayer rock (I say made because they wrapped them in material and put a ribbon around them to make them look fancy). And I thought this will be a good FHE lesson when Jonas gets older. Well, he saw the prayer rock after church and wanted it. So I explained what we do with it, how it goes on the pillow and reminds us to say our prayers and told him the rock stays inside the fabric. We put it on his pillow when we got home.
Well today, after I had taken it off his pillow and put it on his dresser last night, we were playing in his room and I look over at his bed and there is his prayer rock on his pillow again. Apparently Jonas had seen it on his dresser, and knew it went on his pillow and put it there. So cute! He remembered! And he calls it his prayer rock. So adorable! I guess it's never too late to teach a simple concept such as prayer - even to a two year old.

This was his prayer rock, back on his pillow. Ironically his pillow and prayer rock have similar fabric. |
Keep it up! These early years are the top learning years and Jonas especially soaks everything in!
