Day 171 - Feeling Ambitious

I was sick of sitting around doing nothing today, feeling tired and uncomfortable, so I got off my butt and did something. Which is kind of surprising because I did NOT sleep well at all last night. I was up for 2 hours and couldn't go back to sleep. Anyways, I've been really wanting to put the baby room together, because I have nothing else to do and I need to keep myself busy, so I started to go through some of the stuff in our back room today and threw away a ton of junk. I only organized the closet because it was awful! Just think of 3 1/2 years of stuff being stored in this room. Yikes!

First of all, here is a before shot of the closet. I had to take them with my old point and shoot camera since my lens is too zoomed in to get a full open shot with my nice camera.

There's stuff in there that we need to move to the garage, but we need shelves first, so I just organized it better and threw away a bunch of stuff so, that way when we do get shelves for our garage, and over our washer and dryer, all we have to do is move it because it's already been through.

And here's the after. Again, a lot of that stuff will be moved out, but I might keep some stuff inside. We'll see. Either way, there's more room to hang Alexis's clothes up and put more baby stuff in there.

Here's what the rest of the room looks like:
The pack and play is out for the neighbor boy to sleep in and in case Jonas gets out of bed, which he hasn't done since my last post about him getting out. What a good boy!

And I feel like it's only getting messier because I went through some of Jonas's clothes and pulled out the white onesies and anything else, like yellow or green onesies, pants, that could work for a girl. So there's just stuff everywhere, but it will eventually all come together, and things will be moved out. Clint and I just don't want to move the big stuff, like the piano, until November time when it's closer so that way we don't have to put more stuff in our front room. There is a plan though, so hopefully everything will turn out organized and look ok when it all gets done. So I'll post pics of a done baby room when it gets closer to December.

But now for the pics of the day with my nice camera.  Jonas really liked that I was organizing and going through stuff because he had fun playing with all the junk I got out.  I've had these rocks/pebbles since our wedding day. Have I done anything with them? No, so I threw them out. But Jonas enjoyed playing with them first. He was sorting them, without me even telling him. So cute and smart!

He played drums with some pencils and a book box that I made in college. I couldn't bring myself to throw this book box out. I took forever on this box. We had to choose a book, I chose "Click Clack Moo", and create games/learning activities for the book. I have tons of fun stuff in there that is laminated, has pictures, and it's nice and educational! I even have a recording of the book with an audio activity with it. I don't know what to do with it, because it will just sit there. I guess I could use it when Jonas gets older, right? It's for second grade level. Either way, I'm keeping it.

And I also started on a craft decoration for the room. I traced and cut out letters out of cardboard in her name. All I need to do is get some yarn and wrap them, and I can hang them up - maybe over her crib? I decided on doing a pink & gray theme color for her room. I know, pink is used all the time, but what else do I do? I think it will be cute. So I need to get pink and gray yarn to finish the name.
So be excited over the next 3ish months on seeing how this room turns out. We have a lot of moving and sorting to do. Good times!

  1. Good job on the room! It seems whenever I start cleaning a room it always turns into a disaster before it gets better! You're way better than I am...I would have kept the rocks!

  2. Pink and Gray actually looks very pretty...very chic. Great color choices. And the letters above her crib would be way cute...you are way to crafty girl!!

Kudos for getting so much accomplished; it helps the pregnancy go by quicker if you're preparing a little bit more every day.
