My mom came up today and we spent 6 hours making 7 meals for each of us - which technically means we made 14, and my mom split her meals up more than I did, so there's more "meals" for my mom (because they eat less than we do). It was awesome!
Jonas even helped out for the first bit. He helped Grandma make Pie Crust for the pot pies, and helped stir up some meat loaf. The funny part was that Jonas kept sneezing (which is because he has a cold I now realize) into the food. Yay! Little love germs in our food. And when he was eating a snack some cracker crumbs might have fallen into the pot pie mixture. ha ha! It's ok, it will cook out. It's a good thing the food was just for us and that we love him so much!
I did a lot of the sitting stuff, like cutting up the veggies and such. But by the end of the 6 hours, my back was killing me! Don't take for granted the fact that you can get close to the table, or the sink, or the stove without having to hunch over to reach it. Ha ha!And I had several Braxton Hicks Contractions. Clint was nice and let me relax the rest of the night, but it's so worth it! I got the awesome company and attention of my mom, and I got 7 meals out of it.
We made 2 chicken pot pies, beef enchiladas, taco soup, pigs (a favorite family recipe that my dad's mom and her mom made, etc. I don't know how far back that recipe goes, but a pig is meatloaf rolled up in pie crust. Trust me, it's amazing!) We also made Cilantro lime chicken and chicken fajitas. Wow, I'm super excited to have yummy meals to eat! Thanks mom for a wonderful day - and for making beautiful pot pies. I told her she always needs to come make my pot pies because they are beautifully made with no cracks and no insides coming out like mine always are. But then she told me that I have to always come roll her enchiladas. I guess working 3 years at Taco Time in High School has finally paid off - ha ha!
Did we really do 7 meals? I thought we only made 6! I don't mind Jonas' little love germs! Besides, when I got home your dad said he felt like he had a cold coming on so see, it doesn't even matter! Thanks for the great day! I loved cooking with you! And tonight we had the cilantro lime chicken - it was sooo nice just throwing it in the crock pot this morning and eating it when I got home from all my running around today. It was a busy day for me today! And it tasted yummy! :)
ReplyDeleteI was counting 7 because there's 2 pot pies, and that's 2 meals - definitely 2 meals even though they are the same thing.
DeleteI guess she needs to come down more often. I am glad that she helped you out!
ReplyDeletePS...Your pictures look just like mine! Ha, ha :)
ReplyDeleteWow! Such a full busy day but lots of yummy food to enjoy too. Good for you. Sorry about the painful contractions and hurting back....I know exactly what it's like not being able to properly use your arms. ha ha
