Clint gave me an 18% grey card for Christmas and it is going to change my life! For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a card that is grey that corrects your white balance in your photos. White balance is basically the color temperature. Some pictures you might notice are more yellow or blue tinted than others. For example, every time I take a picture at night without using natural light, I'm using the artificial light. That light makes my pictures look like this:
Yuck, right?
These pictures are straight out of my camera. There was no editing involved. So when my pictures turn out like this from the artificial light, I have to edit them and change the white balance myself so it looks more normal and not so yellow.
Well, with this 18% grey card, I take a picture of it in the light I'm using (so the artificial light) and then do stuff to my camera and that card corrects the white balance so the picture now looks like this:
Pretty cool, right? Both these pics were taken within minutes of each other. This saves me tons of time of editing that yellow white balance. I love this card! Although, if something cute is happening right away, I don't have time to take a picture of the 18% grey card and then put that in my camera, so I'll use the card when I know I'm going to be taking a picture in that light. But still, it's so awesome!
And isn't that so sweet? She had a death grip on my fingers and didn't want to let go. I love her!
And for new years? We went to bed early. Happy 2014!

That is cool! I really don't understand how it works but the results are awesome!
