Day 361 - Successful different angles

It's a lot easier to practice certain concepts on Alexis than Jonas. Like if I want to do different angles, which I'm doing, she's easier because she's not moving whereas Jonas is. But she's liking her bumbo more and more so I'd thought I'd do the different angles again today and I liked the outcome. Plus, she was happy. That's the time to photograph her is when she's happy. That's usually in the morning after she has woken up because she's well rested. I'm talking  11-12 hours well rested. Every night she'll be in bed by 9, then sleep till 5:30 and eat, and then go back to sleep for about 3 more hours. So she's nice and happy in the morning. It's around 10:30 and later where she gets fussy because she doesn't sleep very well, or very much, during the day. I don't know why she has the hardest time falling asleep. Oh well. At least I get my sleep at night.

Oh my goodness I love her little toes!

Some pics look awesome in B&W, and this one, I thought, looked better Black and white than in color. I think it's a cool shot.

  1. Hi Stephanie! Wow, you're almost done with your 365!! Congrats! I found you through the link-up at Click It Up a Notch... My husband and I are building a website that we hope will be really helpful for people doing photography challenges. Since you've been so successful I was wondering if you could tell me what your best advice would be to someone struggling to complete a Project 365 or a similar challenge? Thanks so much!! Also... I have a 6 month old who WILL NOT sleep during the day...sleeps great at night, but hardly at all during the day. I thought she was the only one. :)

    1. Hi Sarah! It's good to know that there are other babies out there that struggle with sleep during the day. My little boy, when he was a baby, slept amazingly! All the time. So this one is all new to me. She's completely different.

I've actually been thinking of advice/stuff to write about on my last day as a Grand finale, so I'm glad you asked. I already had it in mind. I would tell someone who's starting a photography challenge to have someone consistently look at their blog/photos. There were times where I didn't want to take a picture, or I wanted to quit, but I knew that my parents always looked at my blog. It is their nightly ritual to look at my blog. So even though some of my pictures were lame, or they were the same head shot that I had done previously, I knew that my parents would appreciate looking at the photos. They don't get to see us much, maybe twice a month, so it was my way of keeping them involved in their grandkids' lives. Especially since my kids were their only grandkids at the time, until recently. I also know that my sister looks at it pretty consistently and I have a few friends that I know look at it. They were my motivation. I knew they would be expecting a post.

I hope that helps. I have much more, but I'll post more on day 365. I'm glad to know that other people, like yourself, were looking at my blog. Again, more motivation to keep going. :)

    2. Yeah, I've heard that every baby is different! I'm still on my first so it will be so interesting to see how the next one is like her and different from her!

I totally agree that having some sort of audience would be a great motivation. As we continue thinking about how to make The Albums a perfect place for photography challenges, I'd love if I could continue asking for your thoughts occasionally! If you want to check it out, it's at www.thealbums.co

Just 2 more days to go!!! You're almost there! :)

  2. What cute little toes!! I'm never quite sure if Alexis looks happy in her bumbo or just abiding her time until you take her out.

    1. She's probably just abiding her time. But she always has that look on her face. She's so serious. Ha! She only smiles if I talk to her or if I go to pick her up.
