I don't know what it is with Alexis and tummy time. She's really not motivated to try to get her head up. This is mainly what she does:
She is sucking on her thumb. She just lays there! Either that, or she cries - which I don't need anymore of. No, actually she is doing better with the crying. I'll explain at the end of the post.
She was being content and happy and sucking on her thumb, so I thought I'd get a pick of her sucking on her thumb. But once I started taking pictures, she all of a sudden got motivated and she started lifting up her head! And she kept doing it. I guess I found her motivation to get her head up.
I don't know why, but she has a hard time getting her head up. She's almost 4 months. I have a picture of Jonas and he had his head up great and even pushing himself up slightly with his arms at 4 months. Maybe because she's chunky? I don't know. I probably should be better at tummy time, but before now, she would always start to cry and then it was so hard to get her to stop crying, so I didn't do tummy time as faithfully as I probably should have.
And she has a toy that she really likes - which also motivates her to get her head up during tummy time. It has a bell inside and its soft, and she loves to chew on it. It's so cute! I just put it on her tummy and she grabs it and becomes a ravenous beast. She loves to chew it. The poor bunny's appendages are always soaked.
About the crying. The past 5 or 6 days she has become kind of....normal for me during the day. When she gets fussy I swaddle her, put her binky in her mouth, maybe hold her for a minute or two and then she starts to get fussy again and wants to lay down. And I lay her down and she cries for maybe a minute or two, but then she falls asleep. It takes about 5ish minutes or so to get her asleep for her naps during the day. Isn't that awesome? She used to take 30-45 minutes of crying/bouncing to get her to sleep. And she's been eating more normal during the day. She's finally going 3 hours or more before eating again. It's so nice! Although, sometimes she does get distracted and eats for a few minutes and want to play instead of eat so she'll finish eating after about 30 minutes. But she's like a normal baby!
Now, the nights are a different story. She still has a hard time going to sleep at night and still cries. Not as much or as long, but we're still working on that. And we're still working on how she behaves when she leaves the house. For some reason, she can't handle leaving the house for more than 2 hours. She'll start to cry and won't stop and won't eat. It's so weird. But I'm hopeful that maybe it's getting better. Just maybe.

I'm horrible about tummy time. I have to do better! But he fusses after one minute or starts crying so I just quit
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie!! I'm glad she's doing better but with Alexis you never know if it will continue or not, right?
