5 Months

My little Alexis is 5 months - wow! To think that 2 months ago she was a completely different baby. And now she's so happy, and so good!

I took these outside in our backyard last night. Our grass is super long from all the rain we've been getting. But it makes for good pictures. :)

She's still wearing 6-9 month clothes and still in size 2 diapers. She's super happy all the time as long as she sleeps well, and I can always get her to smile for me and the camera.

However, she is not happy when other people she doesn't know holds her. And she doesn't like it when people make faces at her, even if I'm holding her. And she had a couple of "firsts" this past month. She rolled over, she found her feet, and I actually started feeding her rice cereal last night. I'll post those pics later. They are always funny.  And she had her first Easter.

She never sleeps in her swing anymore. I just use it to put her in while I cook dinner, or get Jonas his lunch. She takes her naps really well now. I just have to lay her down, put her binky in, swaddle her, turn on her noise machine, and she'll fall asleep pretty quickly. Not much crying.  And she doesn't take a nap at 8 anymore. If she doesn't take her nightly nap, then she'll go to sleep and stay asleep. Thank goodness! She's usually in bed by 8 every night. There have been a few nights where she's fallen asleep at 7 or 7:30 and stayed asleep.
Don't you just love that light? It's been kind of cold here for me to practice my backlighting, but it was pretty nice last night. It's so pretty!

There's only one thing that is "hard" with her.  She still wakes up every night to eat. It's usually anytime between 2 am and 6 am. However, every once and a while she'll wake up around midnight or one, and when she does that, I know she's going to be waking up twice to eat. And the thing is she's hungry. She'll eat for a good 15 minutes. But after that she'll either fall asleep while eating, or she'll stay awake. I don't mind if she stays awake, though, because I can burp her, and kiss her cute chubby cheeks and then I lay her right back down with her binky and blankets and noise machine and she'll fall right back asleep - not a peep. But it still makes me tired. Oh well. That's why I started feeding her rice cereal. In hopes it might help with the night. We'll see. Only half of babies sleep through the night at this stage. I guess she's not that half. Jonas was, but she's not. I have a theory why. I feel like she gets really distracted when she eats, so she eats the bare minimum (around 7 minutes) so she can get back up and play. So therefore she's not really completely full and she makes up for it at night. I don't know. It's just a theory. But she's a chunk so obviously she's getting enough. And she goes every 3 1/2 to 4 hours before eating again. I don't know.
At this point, she was feeling the grass (her right hand is on the grass, if you notice) and this was the face she was making. Ha ha! She didn't know what to think of it.

But I love her to death, and I painted her toenails. It was kind of hard, but they are cute! I love her at this stage.

  1. Oh my! Painted toenails?! I can't imagine how you did that! She looks totally disgusted with the grass...such a cutie!
