Family Pics

I've been wanting to take new pictures of our family to put on our wall. We need a new updated version with Alexis in it. Well, I don't want to pay someone to do it when I can do it myself, so I tried it on Friday. We went to the park and I brought my tripod. They turned out pretty good. Granted, it was overcast, so it wasn't my exact vision I had in mind. I wanted the golden light in the background with the sun shining, but they still turned out good. I'm not complaining. It was all free, and I learned a lot from it. I wasn't going to do it because of the light, but I had cut Jonas's hair because I wanted pics, so I just did it. And I like them.

So I'm going to critique my own images. Don't get me wrong because I love them and they turned out cute. I just need to remember a few things for when I do it again.

First, I need to watch my background. I should have moved myself a little bit to the left in the photo below so that way trees weren't popping out of their heads. Oh well, it sill looks cute. And I didn't take any of me with the kids, because I already have a picture of me with Jonas and Alexis that I took a couple weeks ago that I'm going to use. Plus I'm going to print off a lot of other photos I've taken in the past to put in my 5x7 frames around the house.

How did I get Alexis to look at the camera? I didn't. She was actually looking at me and Jonas the whole time. This photo took about 30ish minutes or so of photoshopping so everyone was looking at the camera. Ha ha! But I know how to photograph it better next time so it won't take as much time to photoshop.

Really cute picture! But there is a tree popping out of her head! Ah! Oh well, I still really like it. Next time there won't be. Maybe if I keep writing it, I'll actually do it next time.

So this picture originally was his full body, but since I already have 8x10 frames, I had to crop it to an 8x10. And I decided that I don't really like 8x10's. It's too square for me. When I have more money in the future, I'm going to buy all new frames (I think 8x12's is the correct ratio for a 4x6 photo) and then I won't have to worry about cropping.  And then I'll just order prints from www.whcc.com. They are a professional printing place with all different sizes of prints so I can order 8x12's. They also cost more per print, but I hear the color and prints are amazing.
Jonas wouldn't sit on the ground, but I still think this is a really cute picture. I finally realized I shouldn't have trees popping out of their heads, so I moved myself and it looks a lot better, do you agree? Now it's like they are framing him. Much more pleasing to the eye.

This is the only one where both were looking. Alexis kept looking at the grass and the bark everywhere. She was so intrigued with it.

I had to beg Clint to take a couple more of just me and him. He was sick of taking pictures by this time. And just so you know, all these pictures only took me about 20 minutes. Imagine if we had done an official photoshoot with someone else posing and stuff? Oh my! But I told him thank you for humoring me and letting me be weird and take pictures. Now I can update our wall with current family pics. The last time we did it was when Jonas was 15 months. Ya, it was much needed.
