Turkey Avacado Wrap with Butternut Squash Fries
First off, from what I've read about food photography (which isn't much) and from seeing other pictures of it, there are nice colors, positioning of the food, and stuff in the background. So that's what I did. It looks pretty good, I guess. It's definitely different than photographing people.
This wrap is pretty self explanatory. Deli Turkey, we bought the good kind. Not just the lunch meat stuff. Avacado, I put mayo on mine, romaine lettuce, corn, tomatoes. It was really good! When I was grocery shopping I was going to buy wheat tortillas, but as I was comparing the nutrition facts, the wheat had more Saturated fat than the white, and everything else was pretty much the same. So I bought white because we're supposed to lower our saturated fat. Not a big deal to me that it's white. I would totally eat this again. I really liked the corn in it. I just got frozen corn and thawed it in the microwave.
Then the "fries". They really aren't fries. It's really just a vegetable side dish. I don't know if I'd make them again. They tasted fine. They smelled better than they tasted. They were sweet, but mushy, because it's squash. I tried cooking them longer to make them "crispy", but it didn't work. I put olive oil, rosemary and garlic salt on them and cooked them at 400 degrees for 50 minutes. I cooked them 15 minutes longer to see if they would be more crispy, but they weren't. It took effort to cut off the outer skin and cut them up than normal potato fries would be. Plus it was a lot more expensive to make than normal potato fries.
Overall, a good dinner. I'd definitely have the wrap again. Plus avacado is good for lowering cholesterol. It has the good kind of fat in it. This meal also made me feel light after dinner. You know how if you eat a lot you feel gross and heavy? Well, I had 2 wraps and the squash, and I felt great. It was fun to try something new.
