First off, I hate the bugs (and there were so many of them, it made me feel miserable the whole time. I think I might even have a slight phobia of all types of bugs) and then next, I hate all the work it takes to camp. You have to pack, plan meals, buy the food - which ends up costing you more for food because you buy things that you normally wouldn't - you have to pack the bedding, and plan for anything weather related that might happen. Then you have to get the ice to keep everything cool, and make sure everything fits in your tiny car, and luckily it does. We definitely won't have any room to go camping when we have more kids, we barely fit everything in our little car with just Jonas in the back. And then there's the whole issue of feeling dirty the entire time you camp. I hate waking up and having dirt under your nails and grease in your hair and on your face and there's nothing you can do about it until you can get home and shower. I understand you can bring camping "showers" and what not, but really, am I really going to fit more stuff in my tiny car? No way!
So the only thing I like about camping is this: 1) spending time with family 2) playing games with family 3)eating together and barbqueing with family and 4) watching Jonas have fun outside playing with cousins. Now let's think about that for a bit...do you really need to go camping to do those 4 things? NOPE! So I veto camping forever. I really can't handle it. Call me high maintenance if you will, but I honestly can't handle it. Next year I vote on doing an all day reunion instead of a camping trip. There you go.
But Jonas did have fun....so that KIND OF made it worth it, but not really. Here are a few pictures. I only took a few because I just couldn't handle the dirtiness and everything, so I couldn't focus on taking pictures.
Jonas with his cousin Kady and Bryan.
This is to show how dirty Jonas was. He loved playing in the dirt everywhere. You can't see exactly how dirty he was, but he was.
Playing ball with his cousins. So cute!
Sleeping in the tent. He just slept next to me and he did really well. Slept the whole night. I think he was super tired from all the playing.
I agree with the day thing. Camping is not so fun!!
ReplyDeleteAGREED!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteha ha, ah Stephanie. I do agree, camping can be a lot of work but when I just love the campfire and s'mores and being in the tent. And when I see my kids covered in dirty and completely happy, it's worth it.
ReplyDeleteWe'll probably invest in a trailer next year because we barely fit in our huge trailblazer. ha ha
Thought about trailer camping??
Trailer camping would definitely be better. My brother and sister in law had a trailer while we were camping, and that would be a lot better, but trailers require a truck, or something big to pull it, and we don't have the money to buy a huge vehicle like that. Plus I would not want to pay for the gas to fill it up. So I just veto camping altogether. ha ha
