I Spoke Too Soon

Jonas's fever came back last Tuesday....after I wrote the post.  He had the fever over night and everything.  So I figured we should go to the doctor.  Well, Wed. morning came and he didn't have a fever anymore, but I didn't want it to come back so we still went to the doctor. The doctor checked everything, and nothing was wrong.  His ears, throat, tummy were all fine.  So he said that it was this virus going around where there would be a fever for 3-5 days, and then it would end in a rash.  Well, Jonas's fever never came back, but he still acted yucky, probably because he was tired. One night he woke up 6 times!  That's worse than a newborn!  But on Thursday, he sprouted a rash, and the rash was on his head and face till Friday, then Saturday it spread to his tummy and back, and then it was gone on Sunday.  Now he's fine, but his sleeping schedule is all messed up from being sick.

Oh how I hate sleeping problems.  On Sunday night, he woke up 5 times, and then Monday night he woke up only once, and then last night was the worse night I've had since the first night we brought Jonas home. Jonas would NOT sleep in his crib.  Any time we would slightly go to lay him down in his crib, he would cry.  We would let him cry for several minutes, then go in and comfort him.  Well, when we would comfort him, we would hold him and he would fall asleep on us, but when we would try to put him in his crib, even though he seemed dead asleep, he would wake up and cry!  He cried from 10 until 12, until we just gave up and put him in the bed with us.  I know, we shouldn't have done that, but we were exhausted.  Then he woke up at 4:30, and I didn't want him in the bed anymore because I wasn't sleeping well.  So I went to put him back in his crib, but he cried bloody murder until 6:30 am when I took him out of his crib and took a half hour nap on the couch.

It was awful!  He's always been a great sleeper, and he's always gone right to bed in his crib the moment he lays his head on his mattress.  I don't know what his deal was, but I hope it's better today/tonight.  And I will NOT let him sleep in our bed tonight.  Poor Clint didn't go to work this morning because he had an awful headache from not getting any sleep.  When Clint would try to comfort him, Jonas cried even harder, he just wanted me, which is nice, but a pain.

I just want my good sleeping baby back.  I don't know why he thinks it's ok to wake up all the time, because it's not!  I feel like he hasn't been sleeping well through the night ever since he started getting his molars, but now it's even worse since he was sick.  I can only hope that it gets better.

  1. Is he teething? That's the only time Wesley was almost unconsolable. If you think that might be the problem, rub Orajel on his teeth and see if that helps at all.
