My mom, being the creative person she is, does the 12 Days of Christmas for all 5 of us kids each year as part of our Christmas gifts she gives to us. And she always picks a theme to center the 12 days on. This years theme is "Time". Elder Uchtdorf gave a talk about time and making sure we are spending the correct time doing things that matter most, and that is how she based her gifts for the 12 days this year. So all the gifts will have sometime to do with the 4 key relationships that matter most that he gave in that talk: 1) god, 2) family, 3)fellowman 4) ourselves.
Ya, she takes a lot of "time" doing the 12 days, but she loves it! I think she starts planning and getting it together starting in October. And I think it's fun to read the little message she has with it and open the little present for that day. There's a lot of good reminders in those messages.
We started ours early since we'll be at the hospital when we're supposed to start the official "12 Days Before Christmas". Then we'll stop while I'm at the hospital, and pick it back up when we get back. Jonas didn't mind, though. In fact, he was so excited to start opening the presents, he couldn't wait for Clint to get home and just started tearing at a present this morning. Oh dear! It was kind of funny! I had to put the basket of presents in our room. I thought he would be able to be patient enough and not open any presents, but his little kid inside got to him. I don't blame him - it just made me laugh. He's so excited for Christmas!

That is awesome!!! I love this idea!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit...I love putting the gifts together! But it makes me the most happy when you say how much you enjoy it. Thanks Stephanie!
