Last year I did "A Day In Jonas's Life". Go check it out and then compare it to this years. It's really funny because last year I had time to exercise, etc. Ha! Oh how it has changed. I thought it would be fun to do it again to see the difference. It was a lot of pictures, 363, to be exact. I deleted a lot and kept the ones that told the story.
So here you go. Enjoy! All these pictures were on Tuesday, July 1st.
First, Jonas wakes up. And ever since daylight savings, he's been waking up between 6-6:30. Ah! It kills me! But on Sunday he totally turned on the tv, got onto netflix and started watching cartoons by himself. I hope he keeps it up so I can just lay in bed while he does it on his own.
I showered, and Alexis woke up around 7:45 today. Nice! Usually she wakes up earlier, so I don't get a shower until her first nap. So I got her all dressed up and looking cute to get a picture since I haven't taken one of her in a week and a half.
After she wakes and I get her dressed, I always sit her on the floor with a bunch of toys. She likes to play while Jonas watches his cartoons. And once she wakes up, Jonas will start to pester her by taking her toys, smothering her by getting in her face, etc. So I have to take her away and I make breakfast (oatmeal today) and Jonas had his first tantrum. He didn't want to wear his bib. Alexis was getting hungry (she doesn't like to eat right when she wakes up, so I have to wait half an hour to an hour after she wakes) and Jonas kept crying and whining and I couldn't get him to stop, so I just left to feed her while he whined. He whined the whole time I fed her. This was about a 20ish minute tantrum. Once I came back, he was fine and then he ate. He always has a tantrum in the morning time about something ridiculous.
I had Jonas take his bowl to the sink once he was done, which he wasn't happy about, and then he watched one last cartoon while Alexis and I did my hair and make up. She likes to sit on the bathroom counter with me while I do that. Plus, Jonas will just pester her if I leave her with him - so she comes with me everywhere I go. And I usually don't always do my hair and make up. I just did today because I knew I was going to be taking pictures. Ha ha!
After I'm done, I come out to find that Jonas has thrown all of Alexis's toys everywhere, so I have him clean it up so we can do something fun. Alexis munches on her feet while we wait, and then Jonas gets dressed so we can go play outside. It usually takes him a lot longer, including whining and a tantrum to get dressed because he hates getting dressed, but going outside was the incentive to get the pajamas off.
We finally get outside. We go on a walk around our subdivision, Jonas plays with rocks, then Alexis starts getting tired. We go outside around 9:30ish.
We go back inside, I lay Alexis down for a nap and then I get Jonas a snack, yogurt and deli turkey. This is a little after 10 am. She has a hard time falling asleep, so I nurse her to sleep. She doesn't really have a set scheduled time when her naps are. I just wait about 2 1/2 hours after she last wakes up. So sometimes her morning nap is earlier, like 9, or later, after 10. I also eat a turkey sandwich and then clean the kitchen while Jonas eats (he's a really slow eater). This snack has now turned into an early lunch. He's eating a lot, so it counts as an early lunch. It's around 11ish now.
Jonas wants to go back outside. So we do. He shows me a spider web, and I try to capture him wearing his fire hat. But he keeps running away from me. It was funny until he started throwing dirt everywhere on the sidewalk so I make him sweep it up. I also realize he pulled up one of the flowers I planted, a tulip, and we go inside and he goes to time out because he's being destructive. He goes to time out when he's hurting or being destructive. He takes a break when he's throwing a tantrum over something ridiculous.
After his timeout, we read stories together, and then he wants to watch a movie. We always watch a movie after lunch sometime. This was around noonish time. So I turn on a movie - "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs". And I use this time (as long as Alexis is sleeping) to get on the computer and check facebook, do my blog, edit my pics, etc. But she wakes up about 20 minutes after Jonas starts his movie. Her nap was only an hour and a half.
I have her play with her toys for a bit and watch the movie with Jonas, on separate couches, and then she starts to get hungry for lunch. It's around 12:30 or 1pm. I feed her butternut squash soup. She likes it today. Sometimes she likes eating solids, and other times she doesn't. Even if it's the same thing. I fed her the soup the other day and she did not want it at all. But she loved it today. I also have been trying different things with her to see if it will help her eat solids better. Such as solids before I nurse her, after I nurse her, in between feedings. And I've found out that she will eat if she wants to. But if she doesn't want it, she won't eat it. It doesn't matter when I nurse her. Silly girl. So particular. Jonas plays in the blinds while I feed her. Him watching the movie didn't last long. It never does these days. Lately he watches around 30 minutes and then he's done.
After she eats, we go play in Jonas's room. I try to do laundry, and Jonas "helps". He usually starts getting really annoying at this part of the day, usually around 2 pm. Probably because he's tired. He starts to get really sassy and crazy and he thinks everything is funny. Especially being naughty. But I do get the laundry folded.
So it's 2:30ish, and he's going crazy and throwing silly tantrums, so I decide it's quiet time. If I try to do quiet time any earlier, he won't fall asleep. But if I do it around this time, he has a 70% chance of falling asleep. He has to be on my bed, though. I also lay Alexis down for a nap at this time. But she is struggling falling asleep.
Clint gets home early today! At 3:30. Their outlook email, wasn't working so his boss sent them home early. Nice! And he is so "excited" to find out I'm taking pictures all day which include him. Ha! I go in and nurse Alexis and she falls asleep finally. Her naps today happen to fall around the same time she wants to nurse, so I think that's why she's struggling going to sleep, because she's kind of hungry. Jonas, however, does not fall asleep and he hears Clint. So he comes out and says he's hungry. He eats a plum and drops it on the ground and throws a tantrum because he can't walk and get the plum. He's tired, but he won't fall asleep. It's around 4:00 pm now, so it's too late for him to take a nap.
An hour later, Alexis wakes up. Not a long enough nap. I know she's going to be so tired tonight. But once she sees Clint, she's super excited and has to be held by him. Needless to say, Jonas and Alexis compete for his attention. Jonas is being crazy and hysterical again because he's tired. Clint and Alexis watch the soccer game on the computer. I start to make dinner, and Jonas does something to get him in timeout. I think he's throwing stuff and hitting things. I go talk to him to tell him he needs to obey. I give him a hug, but he stays in timeout. At this point I know it's going to be a long night with him. He's just so tired! Why does he struggle taking a nap?
We eat dinner a little after 5. Stir fry and rice. Jonas loves it and eats really well. He was super hungry, thanks to that early snack lunch. But Alexis loves the dinner too. I have come to realize she likes actual solids. Not pureed food as much. I give her rice and peas and carrots from the stir fry and she ate it so well! She even chewed the peas and carrots. It was so cute! And she even fed herself the rice. It makes it easy for me. It's a good thing we're eating healthier because there will always be vegetables at each meal, so I know she'll have something to eat from each dinner I make. I'll save the pureed stuff for lunch, and the actual solids for dinner.
I nurse Alexis after she eats while Jonas and Clint go outside one more time after dinner. Clint and Jonas always work together in the garden. Jonas helps Clint water. It's really cute. Probably the highlight of his day. Then I come out and Alexis just enjoys being outside.
It's 6:30, and I know they are both tired, so we go inside, take baths and get ready for bed. Alexis was making Jonas laugh, and Jonas was making Alexis laugh. They can be so cute together sometimes!
And, as the picture shows, they are both super tired and ready for bed. Its a little after 7. We brush Jonas's teeth, read scriptures, say family prayer, read a story for him, he says his own personal prayer, and he's in bed. Clint reads him the story and says his personal prayers with him. I took Alexis to her room, nursed her one more time and she fell asleep while nursing and I laid her down. She was out. She slept till 5:30 am.
Busy, crazy day. But I have the rest of the night to hang out with Clint, work on my blog, clean, or do whatever I want. They don't always go to bed at 7. Sometimes it's 8 or a little after. Depending if Jonas has napped or not. So sometimes I have a lot of time to myself after they sleep, and sometimes I don't. That night I do. Clint's gone that night, so I start to edit all these pictures. What a fun day, right? I probably should use this time to exercise, which I do sometimes, but sometimes I just want to work on my hobbies.
And people think Stay at Home Mom's get lots of free time. Ha! Maybe with one kid I had more time, but not with two. But I love them and it's totally worth it!
Lots of free time?! Ha! Dream on! I loved this post! A mother's day is never done! Love You!
