"A" Day

I've been wanting to do this for a while, but Alexis was so high maintenance and I was so tired all the time, I just didn't have the energy to try.

I really want to start teaching Jonas his letters. I feel like I've done ok with numbers, but I haven't been good with letters. So today we had "A" day where we did activities about the letter A.

First, we made an "A" poster and colored it. I then drew things that started with A and he had to guess what it was. He thought that was fun.

Then we glued cereal onto the letter A.

He at an "A" hotdog with apples (I forgot to take a picture of the hot dog with the apples. I think it's because he wanted to eat the hot dog before I could cut the apples up with it.)

And then we did some Art. I found this idea on pinterest. It's called Puffy Paint. You're supposed to put it in the microwave and it grows and gets puffy. I didn't really work. The mixture/paint was already puffy before we put it in the microwave. Oh well. Jonas had fun nonetheless.

We also went on an A hunt where we went to different rooms to find the letter A. I would find a word with A in it and then ask him where the A was at. He always found it. So hopefully it stuck. I put the posters and stuff in his room so he could see the letter A for a week. Next week (or when I have time) I'll do the letter B and so on. And he'll know all the letters in 26 weeks or so. At least that's the plan.

  1. I remember doing letter days with you kids! So fun! :) Especially our letter dinners. I wonder if your dad thought they were fun or if he was just annoyed but never told me. Ha, ha...thank goodness he's always been a good sport about the silly things I do!
