9 months

I feel like I've been running around with so much to do since Clint's surgery. I've had this post written for a while, but I haven't had time to do a "photoshoot" with her till now. These were all taken in my backyard. It was overcast, which was kind of nice.

So Alexis is 9 months old. Crazy. She's so sweet, and I absolutely LOVE having a girl. But I also LOVED having a boy as well. I just love my kids.

Guess what Alexis did this month?!?!?!? She finally rolled from her back to her stomach! Can you believe that? I was working with her for a good 2 weeks to hopefully help her realize that if she rolled, she could get to things easier. It finally clicked and she stopped resisting me after a couple of weeks of working with her. Now she'll roll over to get a toy, but then quickly roll to her back again. I think she still hates being on her tummy, but she understands it helps her to reach things better.

However, even though she can roll around, all she wants to do is get up and move - by walking. When she wants to walk, she'll either whine until I go get her, or if I'm near her, she'll try to grab my fingers and pull herself up to let me know she wants to walk. Even if I'm holding her she'll lean forward trying to get down because all she wants to do is walk. I want her to walk, but I don't want to be bending over all day long holding her fingers. It kills the back after a while. And she's not very stable. She gets so excited that she's walking she kind of jumps while she walks and that doesn't help her balance. I'm trying to get her to hold onto the couch and try walking while holding on to things (I've stopped trying to help her crawl), but she gets too excited/jumpy and she falls a lot if I'm not holding on to her. She still has a while before she really gets the whole walking thing down. Until then, I guess I'll just have a bad back. Ha ha! I can tell she just wants to be doing what Jonas is doing. She always looks at him longingly.

Clint and I also call her our "humdinger". She likes to make humming sounds. It's kind of like a hum and a sigh put together. Try it right now and that's the sound. :) And she makes this "humming" sound especially when she is nursing. It's really cute and it made me chuckle the first few times. But now it sometimes hurts my ears because she does it high pitched and then makes the notes fall, so she's humming high and low and up and down all while she is nursing. Crazy girl. And she'll sigh-hum in bed at night. It's cute. I love it. :) My little humdinger.

She's also my "sweet cheeks" - my other nickname for her. It used to be chunka monka, and now it's sweet cheeks. One time I was talking to Jonas (whose nick name is cutie boy) and I accidentally called him sweet cheeks. He did not like that. He told me, very sternly, that he was not sweet cheeks. He was cutie boy. Ha ha! It made me laugh so hard. I'm starting to get their nicknames messed up. :)

And her last little name we call her is our "gremlin". She makes this low, raspy growl of a noise. It's so cute! Clint says it's her gremlin noise. Ha ha! She'll repeat us when we do it and she does it a lot when she is eating. She'll say "ma ma" in this raspy low growl. So cute!

And she also loves to eat fruit now. Yay! She loves to eat it pureed, or whole. Like peaches and pears, I just cut them up in small pieces and she eats that better than pureed peaches and pears. Actually she hates pureed peaches, but if it's small pieces she loves them.

She sleeps really good (unless she is teething). She'll go to bed between 7 or 8 at night and then sleep all the way till 4 or 5 in the morning. That's a good 9 hours before she eats again. I'm happy with it. Plus, I'd rather her eat at 4 or 5 because that is when she nurses the best! The rest of the day it's a chore, and sometimes a joke, to get her to nurse because she is super distracted! Plus, if she wakes up at 6 to eat, she's awake and won't go back to sleep. Probably because she hears Jonas get up. But if she wakes up at 4 or 5, she goes right back to sleep.

So there you go. Her appointment is coming up and then I'll update her info for my records. I do know she is 20 lbs, because I've weighed her. But I'm curious what her percentile is because she seems to not be as chubby as she used to because she is still wearing some 6-9 month clothes, and some 12 month clothes.

Update:

Alexis weighs 19.4 lbs - 58% (dramatic change from her 89% before, I knew she wasn't as chubby)
She is 28 inches - 83%
and head is 17 in - 48%

I also forgot to write that she learned how to clap this past month. So cute!
