So I finally finished Jonas's Quiet book for one of his Christmas Presents. It's going to be his meaningful gift. If you want to know what I mean by "Meaningful Gift" you can clink on that link, and I explained it last year.
This book probably took me around 35-45 hours total. Somewhere in there. About 3 hours each page, and then 3 hours for the cover, and 5ish hours for the binding and putting the pages together.
Will I ever do this again? No. I will make a much more simple quiet book. There's easier ways to make and bind a quiet book, but the good thing about this quiet book is that it will last forever. So it's nice that I have one quiet book that is good quality. And one thing that I enjoyed with this quiet book is spending time with my mom and mother-in-law. They both helped me IMMENSELY with finishing it (and helping me get the supplies) and teaching me how to sew. I've learned so much from this book. I hope Jonas likes it. I think he will.
Here we have a treasure map that unfolds and then you can lift the treasure chest lid to see all the treasure. Then a clown. The balloons snap on and off.
On my computer, this picture is horizontal, but it kept loading vertical. Kind of annoying. |
A barn that opens up and there are barn animals inside Jonas can play with. Then the carrots - you match up the numbers.
Again, why is it loading vertical when I have it horizontal? |
You can tie the shoe, and pull the little woman in and out of the shoe.
You can unzip the beehive and there are bees inside that you can place on the page with velcro around.
If you pull the ribbon on the snowman, he "melts" and then you can "build" him again. And the flowers can come on and off the buttons.
So there you have it. My big project. It was fun, a lot of work, and if it wasn't for my mother-in-law and mother, this book would have been REALLY expensive! I spent $35 dollars of my own money, but if they hadn't helped me with materials, it probably would have been around $75, or more. That's because I didn't own any scraps of material myself. So, good times. I'm going to make another one, but it will be out of felt, so a lot cheaper and more simple.
This is the cutesy thing I have ever seen! I made one out of felt last year for Norah and she still loves it, so I'm sure Jonas will, too. :). Good job, Stephanie!!!
